What do you mean redo? You get a wiring harness adapter and color match the wires to the head unit and plug it in, 12 wires at most. Unless you cut up the factory harness already.

If the Ipod works fine on other devices and reads and the radio works fine on other settings then the likely the port burn out.

well I mainly meant to go back and check my connections and how would I fix the burnt out port get a new face plate?

Yeah new radio. Those units aren't built to be taken apart and fixed anymore.
