Question 94 F150 air conditioner

Hi, guys!

I have 94 F150 with 300 CID in it - great car, but there is one problem with my air conditioner. My A/C likes to suddenly just turn off (and i can't turn it on from cabin)... For example, i am driving in very hot weather and it just turns off. Switching between positions (Max A/C;Norm A/C; Off; Vent; Def; Mix)
doesn't help.

Last time when this happened I manually (with metal pipe) tried to just gently hit the A/C compresor and it turned on...! But after some miles it again turned off... Help!!

I have heard that this is common problem in these gen F150..?

What is going on?.

Take it to a shop.

The system may be low on charge, or there might be an electrical problem..... Or, as Sean said, you haven't hit it hard enough yet.
I had a VCR like that once....

It could be your low pressure cut off switch. This is electrical plug and sensor that controls when your compressor turns on. Mine was bad a couple of weeks ago and I went to auto zone and bought one for about 30 bucks. If its shorting out, it would be making it cut off randomly. And it's easy to get to. Hopefully a simple fix. Let us know what happens!
