Default I6 Truck with V8 Tach Cluster

I have found cluster with Tach and wanted to swap but cant seem to find any definitive answer if it will work or not. I assume the tach is reading from distributor??? Would there be any other changes needed to install tach into 4.9L? Does it have to be the same year or will any 90-96 cluster work?

It has to be the right model. 92 -93 will interchange, 94 - 95 fit each other and some say 96 is it's own animal but I think anzus said 95 worked in his 96. V8, I6 doesn't seem to matter.

So is that confirmed, or can we phone a friend? I found several gems at the U-Pull it today, including AC vents, lug wrench, air box (mine is cracked), rim that matches for the spare AND a XLT with a tach. I don't remember what year is was, so any method of telling from part numbers?

The floppy plastic circuit board on the back has the part # you need to be looking at. The first 2 digits will tell you the year it was made F2 = 92 F3 = 93 etc.
You can always try a street shout out if you're in doubt.

F2. I have never been so disappointed. Reckon I'll take it back to the U-Pull it
