Dual function fuel reservoir rear tank loop

Dual function fuel reservoir rear tank loop
-Say that three times fast.
I have a 1988 f150 EFI 5.0 lariat shortbed -Dual Tanks. -I replaced the front fuel tank 2 years ago, and now the rear tank is leaking, im not going to change it out. Just run off the front tank.
-Does anyone know if its possible to disconnect the Fuel Lines from the rear tank, Cut and join the fuel 'Supply' line TO the Fuel 'Return' line to make a "Loop" right back into the 'Dual Function Reservoir' so any returning fuel from the regulator would circle and be dumped back into the front tank?? -(on the idea if you had to disconnect and eliminate your Heater Core, and joined both heater hoses together) ...Would this work without the Fuel Regulator acting up??
I haven't been using the rear tank since the leak, And now the excess Fuel from the regulator is being sent back to the rear tank and I've had to siphon the fuel out to keep it from leaking. i just want to completely Stop the flow to the rear all together.
