1ton or 3/4 ton suspension on 1/2 ton?
I want some strong leafs in the rear on my truck and Im debating on cutting some off a truck at the junkyard from a 1 ton or 3/4 ton Im just curious as to what people think is better. clearly 1ton for weight and 1/2ton for comfort so is the 3/4 my happy medium or what?

2 things,
is your truck a 4x4?
also why?
you are still limited to what the axle can handle, dont think you can now load it up like its a 3/4 or 1 ton lol.

Yes it's 4x4 and my stock springs are wore out and it squats terribly just from someone standing in the bed. The tires almost rub on the wheel wells

rear leaf packs will bolt right in then, remove your factory block or you will be sitting *** high pretty bad. you can get f250 coil springs up front also.

I am running F-250 leafs under my bed and they do help with sqatting, I really like them and they will bolt up, truck definitely rides a little firmer over speed bumps and bigger objects but it's not bad day to day driving. I wouldn't say i can haul more than with factory springs but it helps with the squatting. This was done by the previous owner to compensate for weight of his 5th wheel camper. I've only loaded my bed up with scrap metal and gardening mulch/stones (I don't haul much) but those times It was almost full of stones and I usually haul between 1200-1600 lbs of scrap plus a smaller trailer. Most of the ride comfort will come from the front coils as opposed to the rear leafs, they will be a factor, just smaller. f150cam has a point, my rear end sits pretty high and when I have the money/time I'm going to switch to F-250 coils. Just my 2 Cents, for what the difference in cost is, I would consider new springs, just because junkyard ones can sag (mostly coils but leafs can wear too)

Hello and good afternoon.
The F150 is just that. An F250/350 are obviously heavy duty so why are you going to waste money when you will still have an F150?
Use the suggestion of the other member and get new leaf springs or just add 1 or 2 full length leafs to your existing truck.
It is your truck and your money but the GVWR will only change slightly.
Do not think you are ready to haul 2 tons of weight just because you have 250/350 springs. You will most likely blow a diff or worse!
Boon
Postscript: I was out at the boneyard yesterday and saw an F350 with not only the standard leaves but overloads as well which totaled weighed probably more than your entire complete axle housing including third member. He probably had a flatbed with a Lincoln Arc Welder or similar. Do you want this kind of weight in your truck; fuel mileage.
As always, it is YOUR truck and your money so do what you wish.
