Default Any ideas? 5.0 Starting issue... sometimes

per title, i have an issue sometimes starting. very strange actually and im kinda stumped. i turn the key on and to start, it makes on click and then nothing, no turnover, no start.no extra clicks. thought it might be a bad connection somewheres so i replaced the battery terminals and power and ground cables still nothing. i also tried jumping the solnoid with the key on and not even a spark. but when i slam the hood closed and then go to start it, she fires right up. and it only does it on occasion. could be maybe the ignition in the steering column or??? any advice helpful guys. thank you

Sounds like a bad ground to the starter.

CHECK THE GROUND CONNECTION AT THE FRAME OR ENGINE Sorry caps lock was on anyway it definately sounds like a ground connection problem.

I had this same issue on my 89 5.0. The issue turned out to be the positive and negative connection wires that connect to the top of the battery. I replaced those and the battery and it hasn't happened again.
