Default 5.0 to 5.8 swap

Couple of questions, 1.) are a 91 F150 5.8 and a 94 F150 5.0 (both 4WD, Auto) able to swap if I have both vehicles complete. 2.) Will the swap be worth while? 3.) If swap will work and worth while, should I change cam. My goal is to get more torque in the 94. I am currently pulling a 25' Alpenlite 5th wheel. Flatland and minor hills it does fine. Hills and strong winds drags it down. gears are 3.55. Thanks for any help. Also, can I use my 5.0 hookers on the 5.8

unless the first motor is toast, it's not worth the hassle

The engines will swap with no issues. The headers will also work but the exhaust will have to be modified as the 351 is wider than the 302 so exhaust will need to be widened to bolt up.
I also agree the swap doesnt make since given your needs. Id consider looking for a diesel or big gas engine truck. Initial expense may be higher but you will be more satisfied in the end and fuel expense will ROI if you pull alot.

It will work with a few modifications. Longer stroke on a 5.8 will make a noticeable difference in torque but enough to justify the expense ? Maybe not that much.
Going to a big block or a diesel would make a huge difference, but that swap gets expensive real fast.

I'd either put in lower gears, or get a different truck.

You could also consider throwing a timing chain at the old 5.0. That would help to get it back to it's original torque out puts anyway.
But all said and done, you can't beat a big-block for pulling a trailer like that. A 460 won't even break a sweat to do what a small block will do with your foot all the way to the floor.

If your going to go with the bigger tires, 4.11s or even lower. The 3.73s with bigger tires wil be about the same as the 3.55 with stock tires.

Gears were my first thought also. Would make a noticeable difference at 3.73, and a world of difference at 4.11.

31 x 10.5 x 15 are only 1/4" taller than the stock 235/75 x 15. So do you think the 3.73 would make a difference or not. A lot of my research shows that GM uses 3.73 in their 1/2 tons with the same size tire.
