Default 351W swap question

Hello, new here... figured I would ask the Ford Pro's because I am about ready to throw in the towel. I bought a 1993 F150 about a year ago with what I thought was a 351w EFI, 5.8L. It had the 5.8 intake on it.

It ran great, but after replacing some parts, I came to realize that nothing for the 351 was the right part, but everything for the 302 was the correct part.

Fast forward to now, I developed rod knock, so I decided to buy a running 351w to put in. I quickly realized that I now have a project on my hands. I swapped my engine harness from the old motor, as that is what I read on the forums, but on initial start up I am not getting any spark.

Reading it said I shouldn't need a new computer either?

Can anyone give me some advice on what I am missing? E40D transmission, 4x4... fuel pump primes everything seems to turn on like it should.

Thanks in advance

A 1993 302 will have a non HO firing order.
302 HO (94 and up) will have the HO firing order which is the same as the 351 firing order.
You need 351 stuff or 302 HO stuff to run the 351.

Compare the firing order on your old motor to the replacement to verify.

It is a different firing order.

BUT not having spark, should I go find an ECU from the correct motor or try some other route? Could I be missing something simple? I thought that when the forum told me to swap harnesses that would correct my issue.

You getting power to the distributor? Seems it would be a wiring issue, but those are the worst to track down.. The best tool I ever bought for tracking wiring problems was a Power Probe 3. I think they have a 4 now with even more features. Good luck..

Are you saying that the original motor was a 302 with a 351w intake on it or am I not reading the original post correctly? What year is the replacement motor?

I think thats what it was. I don't know fords very well, but when i went to replace the rod bearings in my original motor, parts for a 302 fit, the 351 bearings were too big. Same with oil pan gasket, they didn't line up for the 351 gasket. My new motor came out of a 96 f350

The stock truck 302 upper and lower intake has rectangle ports and the 351w has oval ports.

Did you check the firing order?

I did check the firing order. I just got back into town and will be trying to get the motor started again today. The old motor has rectangle ports. Safe to say 302?
