Default starter wont stop spinning

ive replaced my solenoid for my starter 17 times from different parts stores around town. my next guess is its the starter but i dont want to spend the extra money on one if its not the problem. ive been wondering if having 2 silenoids would do any thing i now have a stock pile of them.

All the cables need to be thicker.

I changed my starter many times. The thing that stopped it from sticking was installing large cables. A new starter sometimes helped for a short while.

did you run one down to the started as well? i have about a half inch thick cable running from the battery to the silenoid. tore apart a silenoid i had laying around and put an extra spring in it. im going to test it in the am to see if it fixes the problem.

ok for the time being i have fixed the issue. the problem was with the spring inside the solenoid. i replaced it by drilling out the rivets on the bottom plate and carefully removing the coil and the disks. i used the spring that was in the solenoid along with a spring from a ballpoint pen. i also sanded the disks and the contacts inside the solenoid to remove the burnt spots and the slag from where it got stuck open.in addiont i installe a battery cut off incase the silenoid got stuck again.
