Worst ever was with my 82 Jeep Wagoneer (the big full size ones) towing a 72 prowler 22 foot tt . The jeep was a 258 inline six with 2.73 gears and a 3 speed auto. It would do 65 in third on flat ground but dropped a gear on pretty much any hill. It got 5mpg towing that load but never heated up or experienced and sway or tranny issues just chugged along. The tranny cooler on that truck was huge and it had a four core radiator.

Wink

My worst towing experience ever netted me about 9.5-9.6 mpg. But I only allowed it to last about 45 minutes. I have an '11 Lariat, 6.2 w/max tow, 3.73 LS rear. I tow a custom built 7x14 enclosed V-nose, Homesteader Challenger. I carry a '12 Polaris Ranger HD. The trailer loaded with the Ranger and gear is about 3,500-3,600 lbs.. I had just bought an SCT Livewire. Among the custom tunes I had requested a 91 oct. Tow tune. It was on the first tow with the Livewire on the Tow tune. Right away I could feel a problem. I'm not gonna waste space by getting into the details. But it towed horribly. After about 40-45 minutes I pulled over and switched her back to stock. After I returned home for the weekend, I contacted the vendor and he sent me a revised tune lickity split. Problem solved.

That should be a beast with the 6.2 and max tow, I'd have probably opted for that setup had I ordered my 14. Finding one on the lot speced like that was a rarity

The pics below show mpg when towing my 6500 lb enclosed car hauler trailer. Both tows had about 40-60 miles around town at the destination where we were unhooked going to/from hotel/restaurants/track and got a lot better mpg.

My truck is a 2013 EcoBoost with standard tow package and 3.55 rear.

Below is last July after getting home from a 1266 mile tow (610 miles each way) from Daytona Beach up I-95 then through Greensboro to Danville, VA. Pretty flat up the interstate, there are a few hills in NC:

Last Sept we went 760 miles each way up to Bowling Green, KY. Went up through Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Nashville, so there were a lot more hills north of Atlanta and mpg went down I think mainly due to hills:
