Can my 5.4 tow a 20' enclosed?
2009 F150 FX4 5.4L with 3.73 gears. super crew 6.5' bed with tow capacity of 9600#. I have 2 Polaris Rzr 900 XPs that weigh about 1300# each. Add another 1000# for generator and gear. I would have 4 people in the truck at worst case senario. I need a enclosed trailer that is 20' long and 6.5' tall and about 7' wide. I havent bought one yet so i dont know what it will weigh but i know it will be heavy as i cant fork over the 15k for aluminium so ill have to get steel and plywood interior. Im just curious if anyone tows with this similar setup and how it works out. I have 40k miles on my truck and dont really like beating the **** out of it as i hate having things break so i dont really wanna beat it down to pull this setup. If i cant tow something that size and weight ill just get a 16' and make my buddy tow his own toy! LOL

Simply look at the drivers door for the payload capacity of the truck.
Add up (weigh up) everything/everyone that you might put in the truck plus the estimated tongue weight of the loaded trailer.
Chances are good that you can tow/haul your goods w/o troubles.

I have an R and R 7 X 14 enclosed trailer for hauling my Polaris Ranger that I use for shooting sporting clays.

It tows great and the empty trailer only weighs 2,100#.
I pull it with my 2013 Ford F150 Eco Limited and most of the time I don't even know it is behind me.

From what I see you'll be fine. Find a CAT scale when you are combat loaded and weigh just to see where you sit for S & G though.
For reference using my 08 XLT (3.55 and a short box), I hauled my 7000lb travel trailer all around hell's half acre without a single issue.
