I only pulled the pontoon for maybe 2o miles prior to putting her in storage last fall. Cannot wait to see how the 5.0 pulls her to the lake. Anyone else pull toons?

Not pontoon but cargo trailers (8,000 lbs). Love the 5.0.

Just my 2 cents and 40 years of towing.Towing isn't always about the power, although going up a steep grade you might say differently. It's about size ratios. With a pontoon trailer, your "truck to trailer size" is a bigger issue. If you get into heavy winds or winding roads it becomes all geometry. I've seen Explorers with plenty of power towing 30" boats that were whipped around in the wind, like having a sail attached and end up in a ditch. As long as your truck GVW is greater than the trailer you should be good to go.

I just got towed by a pontoon boat on saturday... does that count? lol nice guy but that little yamaha 50 was sure getting a work out towing a seadoo islandia
