FWIW I installed Air Lift on my 1995 Dodge. They also installed outside the frame and worked well but they limited the DOWN TRAVEL of the axle. This can cause the axle to leave the ground when traveling over very bumpy terrain. Be careful.

I have the same bags. I notice a bouncy ride when empty but don't know if that is due to the bags or the light weight truck. Do you feel it bouncing off of the jounce bumpers?

Are yours the "ultimate " with internal stop? With 5 the ride was improved but still bouncy.

I took them off and it's like I'm driving a Lincoln town car

Why does your bags seem to be more compressed than mine at 5psi? What other symptoms do you observe other than a bouncy ride? Do you feel it bouncing off of the jounce bumpers?

So you had two different types of bags and didn't like the ride from either type? Have you ever had air bags before? A truck with bags will never ride like a stock truck again. Even with only 5 psi in the bags it's gonna ride different.
I have never had one this bouncy before while empty but all of my other trucks had Firestone which mounted on the outside of the frame not on the inside like these but with a fifth wheel hitch you can't use the other type
Why does it look like your bags are installed straight up and down vertically where mine are at an angle? When the installer installed them they mentioned how the bags weren't vertical but the pixs in the manual showed them that way. If yours were mounted vertically that would explain why your bags are more compressed than mine with only 5psi

Jason, thanks for the write-up. I have an 88284 in the box in my garage waiting to be installed and now I am thinking of not doing it. Who was the Air Lift tech you talked with? I'd like to contact him, and see if I can exchange it for the other kit you showed...I ordered mine on Amazon last fall and its been sitting in the garage. Now I can't return it... :-(

My air lift install rode exactly the same as before when not aired up (about 5 psi). With about 30 lb the truck rode like a 3/4 ton but was not bouncy.

Did your bags have the internal bumper?

I don't know. They never seemed to bottom out though. They were a lot taller than those pictured here. They mounted outside the frame.

I can't believe how slammed those bags are without much weight in the truck. Now I'm concerned, I've got a buddy with those same bags sitting in his garage waiting for me to help him install. I've got the Firestone bags and told him how impressed I was with the performance. He bought those because he thought they were "the best ones". I did consider those bags but then opted for the Firestone's at the last second.

Since our trucks typically have less than 2000 lbs payload we dont need the AirLift 5000's. Its overkill.

A guy over at EcoBoost.net had this same issue with his 5000's on his 2015 and I told him I had AirLift RideControls and there was pretty much zero change in the ride. He switched out to the RideControls and said its 100% better, stock ride quality.
