7700 gvwr?
So I was reading up on my truck and came across something interesting. I already know the towing capacity but the GVWR is 7700. I don't have the HD payload package and only have a 3.55 rear end. Cargo capacity is 1557 lbs. That would give the curb weight of 6143 lbs. This seems like a lot. Is the 6.2 really that heavy?

You must have Max Tow. That raises the GVW to 7700 on pre-2015 F150s. My FX4 payload is 1820. It is the equivalent of a Lariat with the Luxury Package. But it is a lighter SuperCab. If you are CrewCab and Platinum, that is probably the different. Pre-2015 is a heavy truck.

Here's the stickers from my truck. An '11 Lariat Supercrew 4x4 with 6.2, Max Tow and 3.73's. When I ordered the truck, I had the dealer install a set of factory Skid Plates, a Rhino lining, and an Undercover tonnaue bed cover. I've then added the Go Rhino front brushguard with lights, and the 18" KMC Skitch chrome rims with Cooper AT3 tires. So I can only take a guess at where I'm at now.

Originally I was going to be towing a Bobcat or utility tractor (never purchased) occasionally and thought the 6.2 would be better for this. But it seems the towing capacity is only 9600lbs even with the 7700 GVWR.

GVWR minus truck weight = payload capacity.
GCWR minus truck weight = row rating (towing capacity).
So towing capacity is not really related to GVWR, except that you will almost always run out of GVWR (and payload capacity) before you get close to the GCWR.
