5.0 towing
I'm looking at buying a 2014 F150 4x4 screw with a 5.0 and 3.55's. I currently drive a 2008 Tundra 4x2 with a 5.7 however I really need a 4x4. I don't want this to turn into a Ford vs Toyota or 5.0 vs Eco thread so let's not go there. Also don't need to hear about payload ratings or anything like that
My current truck pulls my toyhauler, which comes in ~6500 lbs when loaded, with no problem. It is extremely stable and power is a non issue. 6% grades get the truck to sometimes hit 3rd, which obviously winds up the motor, but it will maintain 65 mph and easily go faster if I choose. I very seldom push the truck this hard but it's nice to know that I can if need be.
I drove the truck I am thinking about this past weekend. I liked the truck and the price was right however it felt a little under powered but I honestly think that this was due to Fords cautious programming of the throttle and trans shifting.
So onto my questions now, I've been reading that the throttle lag and trans shifting can be greatly improved by 5star. Is it really that big of a difference and is it safe? For the people who are towing setups similar to or larger than mine, Does the 5.0 have the power?

look for user 5.0GN..he pulls a 3 place horse trailer goose neck 7500# or so with a sup cab stx 5.0 w/ 3.55 gears and enjoys it. i opt'ed to find a 5.0 w/ 3.73's just to give a lil bit of an upper hand on towing.

Thanks for the responses guys it helps give me a little more confidence in the 5.0. Any thoughts of the 5 star tune as far as throttle response adn trans shifting goes?
