I might get flamed for saying this but in this case I wouldn't worry too much about being few 100lbs above payload if it wouldn't be illegal. In Canada, for non commercial vehicles, load ratings don't mean much for the laws. In fact they don't mean anything since I could be carrying 3000lbs in my bed with a 12000lbs trailer and it would be legal...

The window sticker says 7200# gvwr package but the sticker in the door says 3750# front gawr and 4050# rear gawr. That equals 7800? Regardless, the yellow sticker says 1127 payload capacity.

His is a platinum, which has many more features and they all weight more. Whats your trim level? XL's have a higher payload, but as you go on up the line adding more features at every trim level they payload goes down because every little electrical module and everything else they bolt on weights more.

Edit: missed yours above the avatar, That is a big difference from a lariat to a platinum considering platnums dont have many more features than my fully loaded lariat. Is yours got all the goodies? nav and moon roof? that subtracts a good bit.

Curious. My GVWR is 7650 on the same 3750/4050 axles. I guess I'll have to load very carefully if I were to use all 7650 without overloading one axle or the other. 150 lb isn't much wiggle room.

Sadly if legality is important to you you'll have to be at or under 7200 while being well balanced enough to ensure neither axle is overloaded. That actually shouldn't be difficult with a 600lb "buffer".

Oh yeah

I did have a chuckle though as we're of like mind on this stuff. Both usually trying to help ensure people don't go too crazy with the weight.

I get it, really but towing, let's say, a 27ft TT with a #600 tongue weight wouldn't be considered "going crazy"... But I do not pulls or haul over my limit and I was just trying to make him feel better about his new truck.

I'm pretty sure next time he'll do his homework before buying... not after
