Harley Tails

I bought those on ebay, OEM genuine Ford tails for $80! I backed into a low bed a couple years later, busted one, gouged my bed side. Anyways, 1 harley tail was $120! hahaha, bad luck I guess.

Harley Headlights. I actually got these from Tasca very shortly after I discovered this place! THat was another funny story. They came in the mail right before me and my gf headed out to Edmonton for my best friend's birthday. Just before the Alberta border a deer came out and nailed my front corner, got hooked by my front rim, my running board and finally again by my back rim. There was guts in my rims, a small ding on my front fender and my headlight appeared fine! however I discovered in the daylight in Edmonton that it was broken and taking on water. So when I got home I did the swap.

I don't know if I'm supposed to just add pictures of my truck in its various misadventures here but I'm going to anyways. Its my build thread I'll do what I want.

Here are some pics when its out on the camping adventures. When I'm not using it at work me and my gf and our pooch love to go "gravel bombing." Basically we just go and drive gravel/dirt roads that we've never been down before. Hence my suspension mods, and the GPS(s) on the dash.

Fishing

Can't complain about the scenery here!

This is where we drove my pickup down a road that got washed out during our record rains in 2011. There was literally a creek bed on top of the road. It took us the better part of an hour and a half to go 2km. I didn't ding my rims or get a flat, and lets be honest here who wants to be in a rush when they're out in the bush anyways

This is taken at a fairly high elevation. My friends and my brother and my gf took up all the rhinos/prowler and me and my buddy Andrew wanted to go still so we brought my pickup. Nothing to serious but definitely a blast. The Camburgs were a big help keeping up with the Rhinos on the rougher roads.

my buddy Andrew hanging onto Mine and wifey's pooch Twinkle. Yep I'm one of those dudes. 6'4 350+ with a Chihuahua

Here I have the inverter (thats now hardwired in) on alligator clips on the battery so I could whip up some strawberry banana smoothies I don't wear my "don't rag" all the time just when I'm camping or just to irritate the wifey, or when I'm pretending I'm a pirate. A hippie smoothie making pirate apparently.

and since I can't stand sleeping in a tent anymore...

Yes the whole truck is painted in rock guard. Bitches can't even ride in that wagon without contraception.

My Mom and Dad's Raptor, with their "baja" deck front tent trailer. Its got big boots, and bilstein freaking shocks! The Trailer! its wicked!

So funny story this morning.

I had wired 3 12V power points in behind my ash tray. I mentioned this in my earlier posts. However I wired two of the three in backwards and didn't realize it. They were pre-wired kind of, with a white and a grey wire. I tested it on my booster box by touching the wires to the leads with an old 12V/120V combo adapter with a green light on it in. The green light came on, and I was satisfied with what must have been the correct way to wire it up. I wired it in. you'll notice in the picture there is a 12V plugged into the plug on the left. Thats the power for my wilson cellphone booster. As you can see the light is lit up. What you can't see is, regardless of that red light being on the rest of the cord is now fubared. I also fubared my Garmin power cord and my satellite radio cord, but because the light still came on at the plug I assumed it must be right, and those other cords not working a co-incidence. When I tested it with a test light it also worked because it still completed the circuit, and I'm an idiot. So today, after I cooked the replaceable fuse (which my other cords didn't have) in my new booster cord did I actually put 2 + 2 together. It was wired in backwards, and for whatever reason the two plugs I was using to test it still lit up. I missed it completely...I feel pretty dumb.

edit: I realized after its pretty tough to tell that the red light is on, but it was.

I'm a contract Operator out in the oil patch at a water plant near my home, we store/supply all of the produced/flowback water used in frac operations here. So long and short I'm waiting for my year end to be all said and done and my plan is to do version 3.0 of the truck.

-Wrangler Power dual battery set up with another red top probably. I know I know yellow tops are better blah blah blah but you can't get Yellowtops at wal mart, where I got my red Top. I don't really know very much about dual battery set ups. Wrangler's Dual Battery Kit is priced at $350, is that too high? It has the new tray and everything though, which is nice, for getting two side by side in the stock position. I didn't think about it that maybe gathering the parts seperate.

-Wrangler Power 200AMP alternator (105 Amps at idle) $615

That setup with the second battery will push somewhere North $1000. Which is pretty expensive...

Before or after I haven't decided...

- Headache Rack, if its aluminum, rock guarded to match.

- Move my antennas to the headache rack, with a taller booster antenna, and a long Whip style for my VHF. I love those whip style antennas that flow back while you're headed down the road.

- Uniden 996XT scanner mounted behind the back seat with the remote mount somewhere and use a permanent shorty antenna mounted on a hood mount.

- 2 flush mount Rigid Duallys in the bumper

- Mount the 2 dual floods I have sitting on the shelf in my shop on the headache rack for work lights.

I'd love to do on board air. However, electric onboard air setups don't seem to last or be too great up here because of the cold, so I'm undecided. If anybody has any bright ideas about a skookum onboard air set up that'll take the cold and won't intrude in my box space or under the hood please feel free to share.

I also plan on little projects

I ordered some tool holders from Polyperformance to mount up my shovel, 2 wrecking bars and my rake. Mount them on the flat spots above my wheel wheels. I'd also like to bracket my jack-all somewhere too.

I also have a brand new 275/70R18 spare tire that I realized might not work on my spare rim because it might be a 17, but either way I have to get that mounted up to a new rim, or a stock rim or something.

There is a bit of an icing issue with my spare tire as well. Ignorant of the fact I have a 2 stage 12V compressor and more plug kits than I know what to do with I still need to be able to get my spare down, and if its iced to **** and I have to let it thaw for 3 days in a shop, thats not going to work on the side of the road when its -30. I might need to develop a cover or something where my jack handle goes in to lower the tire itself.

I could probably give you guys a break down of what I have in my tool box if there was interest.

I'd also like to get new bumpers, just stockers, as long as they're straight, and rock guard them and put them on.

Lots of plans!

Sorry for always having long winded posts!

I've not had very good luck with those Optima's anymore.

You could run a massive battery in the bed of the truck. And tie it in with a solenoid type setup. Probably could do a Deep cycle battery.

I think yyou can find a cheaper alternator than that! I've not looked but i remember someone saying they bought one and it wasn't too bad.

I need to start rigging my truck like yours. lol. I mounted my uniden On top of the dash in that little tray thing. Hard wired it in, drilled a hole in that tray and ran the wires and antenna in the dash. And then mounted a stick on antenna in the windshield from one side to the other. And it works 10 times better than the outside one i had mounted before.

A big thing i've been wanting to get lately is a remote search light.

Very nice work truck. Are those fender flares stock or aftermarket, I want some on my truck but all the after market flares are way to big!

They're stock Lariat flares, I sprayed them with rock guard. There is a couple of different products I use, the rock guard I used on this truck is called a "flexible rubberized undercoating " and it doesn't have the same texture as the Bed liner style coatings, like what my 1997 is painted with. I'm really happy with it.

Kind of a nifty little trick. If you buy wrenches with this style of holder, maybe you can get lucky and actually fit the similar sized metric wrench in the spot between the SAE wrenches. Twice the wrenches in the same amount of space. That's 1 14 piece Metric set jammed in-between a 14 piece SAE set. Its handy because most of my equipment at work is SAE but newer vehicles are all metric.

This is what a disaster my toolbox can end up looking like at the end of a day.
