Yeah I got the 10ga steel. I honestly wish they were a bit thicker but I don't regularly bash my skids too hard with the style of offroading I do so they've held up well. Otherwise, the quality is great and I like that they come powder coated. Also, they are about the only game in town for real skid plates. Coverage is 10x better than the stock fx4 skids I had.

Honestly, the 10ga skid plate set is only like 80 lbs or something if I remember right so I wouldn't worry about going aluminum with these.

The shell was his problem lol, I stand on my bed rails.

overlandFX4, love the truck. It's looking great.

Sigma, you need to make a build thread man. That truck is **** and I want to know more about it. How you like those Roost? Where did you get that front bumper?

Were gonna be making a big loop starting in Page, to Valley of the Gods, Bears Ears, Henry Mountains, Dixie National Forest and then the north rim! Basically trying to get down all the back roads i see in the area when I'm passing through but never have time to explore! Its a little over 800 miles and over 350 of it is going to be dirt. Really looking forward to it!

Ya I'm a little worried about the height of the tent, but I'm shooting for the 72"-74" mounting height works well for the annex. Any way you could pull some measurements on how high the soft topper is from the bed rails? Looks like it sits below the cab by a few inches.

72 inches is the sweet spot for my tent. I asked the manufacturer

I'll try to get some measurements when I get home tonight. It does sit slightly below the cab. It sits right at the 3rd tailight. According to softopper, this is by design so it doesn't catch the wind.

Sounds like an awesome trip!

Yeah mine needs to be lower. Its perfect for the tent, but the wind hits it.

Added a bet mat and then started my sleeping platform/cargo management system this weekend. Calling this stage 1 of the build. Built it and then gave it a good stain. Considering using bedliner or some sort of rubberized coating on top so my sleeping pad doesn't slip.

I also plan to build a small section over the other wheel well for dedicated hi lift/jerry can/traction board storage. It is a work in progress.

Still quietly following this thread. Awesome build man. I've been tempted by that same soft topper. What are your initial impressions? Seems like you've had it through some weather based on the pics, too.
