I've actually got the same issue as the OP, or at least it sounds like it. It just started happening about a week ago. 2012 Eco with not quite 14000 miles. Mine is currently bone stock, but will probably put my tune back on it to see if it goes away.

I only notice the sound from 1000-2500 RPM, and is most noticeable when going up hill @ ~25% throttle. It sounds like a high frequency vibration or fluttering sound. It's very metallic sounding. Hard to describe. My brother heard it very well, so I know I'm not going insane.

I had taken the tune off when I brought it to the dealership and just put it back on. The sound is more noticeable with the tune, so we'll see what happens once they look at the manifold.

Got the truck back a little while ago after bringing it to the dealership to get the manifold looked at. They said there was a leak and changed the manifold and all associated gaskets/seals. Everything is good now! I kinda found it weird that Ford built the manifold so heavy duty and it managed to warp and cause a leak. Oh well, problem solved and fixed, no more fluttering sound.

Was it leaking at the head or the turbo flange? Have you reinstalled your tune yet?

They said it was at the head, at the rear port there was soot. Tune reinstalled as soon as the truck got home

I've got a strange sound in mine, most noticeable when under load downshifting from 4th to 3rd, sounds like it's coming from driver turbo in 13 platinum.

This happened to my 2011 this past summer. The boost control wiring harness was not providing a 5 volt signal to the boost control module. It was 1.8 volts and the turbos were going crazy. 2 hours in the shop and the problem was solved.

Exact same spot as mine.
The bolt pattern, and the lack of a bolt in that area is I bet part of the issue.

a lot of these "sounds" people are hearing of high pitched metal and such sound a lot like my "sound" a few seconds after boost kicks in I get this "hamster in the wheel" noise that can't seem to be caught on film.

My local dealership says if it doesn't have a code we don't know what the issue might me…..where in the world did the mechanics of the world go!!! They won't even guess or diagnose a possible issue.

Cheers,
GREG

Can you bring one of the mechanics for a ride and try to get the truck to make the sound?
