Time to tune the EB- had trouble with a 5.3

Thanks for the reply.
I haven't run my truck at the track so I don't have times. I have a big *** crew cab, long bed, 4wd with a 210 pound fiberglass topper so I'm going to be middle of pack.

The OEM transmission and decision making was horrible, 5 star was mediocre. MPT did get a significant improvement, though there's likely a hardware limitation that can't be overcome with our PCM.
MPT's selection of gears with speed and throttle input is certainly better than Ford's which seemed to only start assessing what to do until after you press the throttle, then over 1.5 seconds it would ponder and finally make the gear selecting needed. MPT's seems to do a better job of predicting, or at least being in the right gear at the right speed, with X% of command from the throttle.

Ssi ftw
I've chalked this up to the Ford PCM and transmission control module simply not processing the input fast enough. Like they're resource limited. Analogy a first gen Pentium compared to a current gen quad core i7 processor.

I would highly recommend trying an SSI tune.

I'd say this guy nailed it. I'm sure your mate was pedal to the metal too, and it's not like the EB has that much more HP than the 5.3 that it would catch up instantly (think Porsche 918 vs Honda Civic situation!). So yes, not catching up is OK.
Having said that, nothing wrong with a tune, except that I like my 7-year ESP / FMPP
