MPG - 3.7 V6 vs 5.0 V8
First off, power wise I'm coming out of the ancient past with 120hp so the 300hp of the V6 will feel like I'm ready to yank the moon out of orbit.
However I wouldn't necessarily pass up a good deal on a 5.0 V8.
Truck will be a 4x4 and at least an extended cab. Yes, I know the Crew Cabs are V8 only.
What are real world expectations for gas mileage out of similar trucks, 3.7L vs 5.0L?
I drive 45 miles each way to work but only four days a week and could really use a pickup again. If a V8 was no real significant mpg loss I'd go for it.

3.7 (that'd be 3.5 for '15 F150s) do come in Supercrew, I'm certain. 5.0, 3.7, and new 3.5 NA (that'd be naturally aspirated, like me) are all great engines. If no towing, don't need 4WD, I'd say go with 3.7, 3.5. Otherwise, I say get the 5.0. MPG difference is about insignificant.

Not sure of MPG but personally I would make reliability first priority,,I'm not real impressed with the reliability of the 5.0 ( knocking , ticking and oil consumption crap) from my personal experience. And as for the Eco Boost I feel long term reliability hasnt been established across the board yet either.
If you don't need it for towing I would go with the 3.7. I haven't heard of to many problems with those but if you do decide that you will tow something in the future or just want to be strong V8 I would throw MPG concerns out the window and go with the 6.2. Just my opinion.

Oh, if I had an extra ten grand there'd be a Raptor in the driveway no doubt.
Not a lot of towing or anything crazy. Just a 5x8 yard trailer and filling the bed at Home Depot.

You can also find a used 6.2 in other trim levels during those years for a lot less money than a raptor and that motor from what I understand is pretty much bulletproof .

My 5.0 has been solid. It's a 4x4 supercab and highway gets about 18 at 75 mph plus. If I slow down a bit it gets closer to 19-20. Around town and highway combined it's about 16.8.
