Default Thermostat Tune

If I had a tune that accounted for a 170 degree thermostat but have not installed the thermostat yet, can I still run the tune without it? Or will it be a problem with the stock thermostat?

I plan on putting in the new thermostat but haven't gotten around to it.

Didn't know there was a specific tune for a 170 stat. I'm sure you're fine running your tune without the stat installed.

I don't think it is a specific tune other than it includes updated fan settings.

If the tune has the fans coming on earlier with the 170 tune then they will never shut off with the stock thermostat.

Guys...guys...sheesh.

Yes if you go to the 170 thermostat you have to change the tune to change fan settings to work with the thermostat. Stock the fans don't come on until ~190, (might be ~195, its been awhile), with 170 the tuners are setting the fans at ~175...

With that said, if you use this tune with the stock thermostat the fans run quite a bit as the thermostat is opening so high and will probably never cut off. I would do it together.

I had a feeling it would just make the fans continue to run.

Rick at Livernois is out until tomorrow, but I'll just get him to send me a file without fan settings until I get time to install the new one. Thanks for the info guys.

It doesn't take but a few minutes to change the thermostat. I was done in 30 minutes, including warming the truck up and topping off the coolant.
