Well I feel stupid for asking this but I have to know what the J pipe is for. I have two guesses. First, it's something to do with boost and letting it be piped into the exhaust(don't remember seeing that on my brothers ecoboost) or second it's to change the sound.

The j pipe eliminates the trouble frequencies that create drone. They check the drone frequency with a sound meter in the cab. they plug that info into a formula that tell them how the j pipe needs to be (length and radius i think). only sound waves enter the j pipe. No loss of flow. J pipes rock. The Dual system does not use J pipes. They weren't having drone problems with it so why add complexity and weight (cost) when not needed. Some have said that the Hearthrob drones so bad they took the exhaust back off. They could have used a j pipe....

Also, the j pipe is capped. It does NOT vent. Just a place for crappy sound waves to hang out. For fun, you can mark the cap where it is in the j pipe (it's adjustable to fine tune sound if needed) and pull it off altogether. Start up the truck for some extra noise! It's rather obnoxious. I tried it on the prototype MR400 system on my truck. Didn't stay off long.

This isn't just a Solo (seems like a nice system BTW) question but other than sound, what else do you get from installing a catback on the EcoBoost? Performance, mpg, etc.?

Here you go:

And there's links there to the devices it will work with. Quite pricey, but definitely cool.

Very good thanks much!

So far I've got both from my Solo cat back. Anything that properly opens up flow has the potential to do both.

It also requires a bluetooth OBD interface that plugs into your OBD2 port. There are some REALLY cheap ones out there, so be careful as most of them work intermittently. I bought one on Amazon and have included the link here:

That one has worked perfectly for me so far. It connects everytime, sampling rate and refresh rate are VERY quick, and does what I need it to.

One word of caution though. That app will SLAUGHTER your battery life. The dock I put there on my dash has a charger port on it and I ran that to my USB2 port since I don't use it and it keeps the phone charged while it's in the dock. No lost battery life for me
Thanks for the heads up. I bought them both and a dash mount. That app is pretty cool to play with. I love how u can have 5 screens of gauges to flip thru. I have one set up as an economy screen with that tree and rpms, another for "spirited driving", lol. Now that I have the livernois tune on it the exhaust has gotten more aggressive sounding.

From experience, tuning can also deepen the exhaust note. Don't be surprised if it does deepen further after tuning it.

Yes this is a 100% stainless system. The link below will take you to all the information about both the system itself and the Group Buy for it. It expires at the end of this month.
