Lets hear about those 3.7L's
#542
Mine dinged on 25 mpg once over 100 miles driving a 2 lane black top to the east at speeds around 60 averaging 55 mph for the trip, while also passing thru 3 small towns hauling just the tool box and also went 562 miles taking 26.4 gallons of gasoline averaging 21.4 mpg over the run on interstate driving 72 mph with a Solid Fold box cover burning 87 octane. E85 in 90 degree plus temps yielded 18.5 mpg averages with about 3 gallons of 87 octane also in the tank and driving 70 mph.

Okay, mine passed 64,000 last fall but I put it in storage for the winter, it is 2X4 and I use the 4X4 thru the bad winter months.

4Runner Driver
Things I like about my 3.7: It sounds good, makes plenty of power, saved me money on initial purchase. It meets my needs when I need it to get something done, and it's a damned reliable engine (we have another 3.7 in the family in a different Ford).
What I HATE about my 3.7: Fuel economy. My 4.8L GMC and 4.7L Ram before it both got MUCH better fuel mileage than I'm getting out of this thing. My Ram had no trouble knocking out 19-21mpg highway, my GMC would get 18-19mpg highway. This F150 struggles to get 17mpg highway at the same speeds. I can blow the EPA ratings for city mileage out of the water with the damned thing (No joke, I've gotten 19mpg in town with it!), but unless I slow all the way down to 55 on the highway, I'm not even close to 20mpg.
As I both need a truck and have a 25-mile (each way) all-highway commute, I thought I bought the right truck. At this point, I'm wishing I'd bought a Ram again instead, but I went with what we sell (I work for a dealership that sells Ford, among other brands), and believed the EPA sticker (why wouldn't I? My previous two trucks were right within the ballpark!) and bought the Ford. Too late now, I'm stuck with it.

A couple months ago I posted hear about towing. I just wanted to give an update - We picked up our new Camper yesterday. A Keystone Bullet 272BHS with a 5040lbs dry weight. It is 31' hitch to bumper, 27' box. Our truck is a 3.7L 2WD Supercrew with an Equalizer hitch. It towed wonderfully, never failing to keep up with traffic and maintaining a solid 65-70mph through the hills of Vermont and New Hampshire. Transmission temp never went over 202 (long steep grade) and was mostly in the low 190's. VERY pleased with the performance.

Cold start vibration
Anyone have a vibration when starting the truck and putting it into gear? If it's been sitting a while I notice when I start the truck it idles at a higher rpm around 750-850 and I have a vibration in the truck, after a couple of minutes the rpms drop to 500 and the vibration go away. Anyone know anything about this?

Have the exhaust checked out.

The last time I took it in they said they replaced all the exhaust and motor mounts but it didn't fix the issue, took it in today and they said they were going to run a diagnostics check and update the computer, not sure if that will fix issue
