There is another thread where the guy convinced himself that he had fuel in his oil. So the Ford dealership sent a sample to CAT and he sent a sample to Blackstone. Guess what, the fuel in the oil % came back as < 1%.

The mind plays tricks sometimes and I think your at the point where you need scientific proof, one way or the other.

FYI...these engines are tough to get an accurate reading on the dip stick. One side is always higher than the other...

just like to point out that i haven't really heard of blackstone as being reliable regarding fuel dilution.

just one example.

Well, when two independent facilities come back with the same conclusion...I'm not going to worry about the hair splitting...

except it depends on how those independent facilities came to their conclusions. if they use the same methods on the same oil samples it makes sense they would get the same result.

if cat used the same flashpoint method blackstone uses they would get the same result, and that result is still not accurate.

taking the truck back Tuesday morning. they are going to change the oil and look at it for me. also I mentioned the dead throttle syndrome my truck has. they are going to look at that as well. best part is I ran into my salesman and he acknowledged having '
'turbo' problems like what I experienced with the dead throttle. he said he is going to visit with service department.

I showed him my trip 2 screen and he could not believe how bad my avg. mpg's are. he mentioned that when they fixed his truck (misfire) his got 3-4 mpgs better immediately.

so a waiting game for a few days.

Yeah, my mileage increased slightly after the dealer reflashed the engine, but I ended up losing a lot of the bottom end torque.

I have read that in a lot of posts... I told them before they do anything to let me know.

Salesman said his power got better. I asked him to find out what they did to his for sure and let me know. I think he will do that... would be nice to see if it was same fix as you got.

Mine was never fixed. They swapped out the IC. Then installed a shield, replaced the plugs, did the flash and I lost bottom end torque. I still had the engine shudder and a lot of black gunk collecting on the tail pipe.

I didn't want to gamble any longer and dumped the truck.

and quite honestly- notdirected to you- but if I have to send my oil in and get it analyzed on a new truck just for my own peace of mind, I will be totally dissatisfied with my vehicle no matter what it is. if that is the case for a new vehicle then I have zero trust in that manufacturer and will 100% never drive another of their vehicles again.
I agree the front side if the dipstick was a pain to read from the day I brought mine home . I Checked the oil with 58 miles on the truck and it looked high from the front side like it was overfilled. I find the best way to check it in this engine is first thing in morning after sitting all night . Pull dipstick wipe it dry . Put it back in pull it out and read the back side . After 1006 miles mine is right on full mark on the back side front looks high . It is a 2013 a month old manufactured Oct of 2013 and has had no TSB'S. Performed or anything else hasn't stumbled at all but the exhaust does have black soot on it like an engine that is running too rich . Guessing it's just from DI. With cold starts . So far so good for me but I must admit . My daily commutes are four 6.5 mile runs per day at easy throttle. Reading these threads are alarming
no one should be having problems with new vehicles ...
