Yes, but their v8 barely makes more power than Ford's base v6 that's rated at 17/23.

This is not a Chevy bash, this is just recent personal experience...for company work, I just drove a 620 miles in a rented '10 or '11 Chevy Silverado crew cab 4x4, Vortec V8 (5.3L?). Towed a 6x12 enclosed trailer the whole way, from Ohio to western Virginia and back. Trailer was empty going down, full coming back. Weight of the trailer didn't seem to matter, I got 13 mpg both ways. Granted, the trip went through the Appalachians, but still, this seemed pretty poor. I did enable tow mode. The truck did okay, but I honestly wasn't that impressed (soft suspension bounced a LOT, it had to downshift for the slightest grade, trans temp ran between 210 and 220 going up hills, but the seat was at least relatively comfy). There was a new F-150 CC 2wd w/ the 3.7 sitting next to the Chevy, and I was hoping to take it, but it didn't have a tow package. Oh well.

Sorry to go off on a tangent...

I almost most bought another Silverado(I had a 2007.5 previously) before I drove the Ford. The GM I almost bought was rated at 15/21 with the 5.3l but that was with 3.08 rear end. It rode good but was kind of a dog getting up to speed. My new Ford with 55 more hp and 85 more ft/lbs of torque, plus 3.73 gears......gets much better mileage. It's no slouch getting up to speed. It was win win in my book and I'm glad I bought the f150.
