I too love my truck. It was a great truck for the first 50k km. After all the issues I've had and continue having I don't trust it anymore. I thought after all the restructuring of **** their products would have been better. I wouldn't recommend Ford to anyone especially after the way us Ecoboost owners have been treated. They're just waiting for warranties to run out just so we go away.

If no others want to I'll be the guinnea pig haha, it didn't rattle this morning but only sat about 10 hours, hopefully it can sit for 12+ tonight and see.

Ford is never going to address this issue just like they never did on the 5.4 that has the same exact rattle issue

The dealers say its not causing damage...I don't know theres people that have driven 5.4's for years with the rattle. I feel better having oil in the top end at startup than starting it dry for the next 4 years.

I will be willing to give it a try pending what happens at the dealership over the next few days. Looking forward to your updates on how it is working out.

Totally agree. So many issues but mine did not start until around 65000km. Will be hard pressed to buy another one.

Default Could Use Some Help

Hey Folks....I could use some help spreading the word with some re-tweets, likes etc. Or has this dog been beaten enough already?

Any ways here is a picture of my love / hate relationship.

It's overly been beaten to death. Most of us have just accepted it and gone back to enjoying our trucks and maintaining them as best as possible. **** happens and guess what everyone who has had their truck fixed it seems to come back anyhow.

Enjoy it and drive it. When it dies not likely though get another engine. I'm sure it will be paid off by then if it did happen.

Yeah unfortunately it don't matter. Like I said there's 5.4's that have had this rattle for years. Best bet is to try and find your own fix if your timing isn't off. That's why I'm hoping this Lucas oil additive works it may be just that simple

And that is exactly the attitude that let's Ford get away with it.

Well get your wallet out and start fighting with high $$ lawyers. That is your only recourse. According to Ford "they are working on a fix". Could be forever but that is all they have to state.

I fought this one pretty hard with two different dealers and probably 10 different customer services reps, their supervisor, her supervisor, etc...

The ONLY fixes I know of that actually work for this problem are:

- Timing chain actually breaks. Motor is toast. (it's happened to several owners who had the rattle)

- Trade the truck off on something else and sleep better at night without the stress. (route I took).

Ford cannot fix this or they simply don't care to fix this. They see our trucks as an acceptable margin of failure and that's that.

If this truck has the timing chain issues within my 60,000 km warranty I am going full steam ahead with a CAMVAP buyback claim.

I take solace knowing that my cold start videos have had well over 20,000 views combined and are found in Google at the top for keywords like "Ecoboost problems" "ecoboost engine problems" and it's probably cost Ford several F-150 Ecoboost sales.

And not giving up is the way it should be. Simply accepting it is not the solution! My truck is at the dealership as of this morning. I am not expecting much but who knows.
