Disagree you may, but in my state straight pipes only earn you a costly ticket.... 3 tickets earn you a suspended license. Then you can't drive you shiney Mustang, or anything for that matter!
As a police dispatcher, I'm the poor sucker who has to take the complaints by phone and send the COPS to chase them down. Also as a hotrod car owner I have to be very careful where and when I drive it, so there is my logic.

My stang is prietty loud with no mufflers. And the cop round here tell me how awsome my car sounds.
