Default lifter problem i think....

when i start my truck after its been siting, even after about a half hour, i get some ticking from the engine bay. it does stop after i get down the road a little bit though. but even if the engine is still warm from the last time i drove it, it still does it. any solutions or suggestions?

My 02 (4.6) did this a little too. If it sat a few days maybe 5 or so it would also ideal rough and smoke out the tail pip for a few seconds. I never did anything about it and it never caused any issue.

Gotta ask what type and grade oil do you use? What oil filter? Please don't say Fram.

whatever hires autoparts put in. it doesnt idle rough, just ticks until the engine has ran a little. it didnt do it in the summer, so im not sure if its because of the cold or a new problem.

Install a Motorcraft filter with your next oil change and see if that helps. Maybe the one your using doesn't have an anti-drain valve.
