looks like improper maintenance. I know they're the devil and awful, but mine hasn't given me problems. I thought we were past that lol, I purchased it 4 years ago before I got into modding and research. Its not high on my list of mods although i realize the facts behind it. I'm not denying it, or acting like its not true but...My truck runs like top so I'll keep for now.

Your lacking in research, I saved you the trouble...so I thought lol.

Do, think what you must, it's your truck. Running that crap thru it will eventually catch up to yuh, you'll need a new engine and wonder why. You WILL eventually begin to loose compression once you run enough dirt thru it. These engines are pretty resilient, can last a long time, but they're not idiot proof.

Eventually, you'll get it, when and IF you decide to monitor it. Face it, if it runs, your happy and that's enough to justify a bad purchase.... for some.

Like I said, I've run them for years. Watching, monitoring and got fed up with it...learned and moved on. For someone to just come out and say , it's okay or you don't know how to oil/recharge it is pure BS. I know for a fact that it isn't the case.

Be good to your truck, - run a dry element if you want consistent performance and economy. You WON'T get that dumping oil on a air filter. Oil goes in the crankcase.
To each their own I guess. I noticed a significant increase in throttle response and decrease of fuel consumption overall, I documented the difference driving to and from my work one week with K&N and one week without, I got a difference of 1/8 of a tank less fuel required for the same distance with the K&N filter installed vice dry element FRAM.

I can't say they're as bad as some guys say on here.

I like them and never saw any oil egress within my intake tube and/or throttle body and my MAF and/or my IAT sensor.

I'll keep running them and cleaning them spring and fall like I always did.

No issues here.

Here it comes..getting deep fast lol.

Right to each there own alright. Sounds like your posting K&N hype, right from their site. Whatever fella's . I had to prove this one myself and in doing so, others could beneifit.

You actually have to look, watch the inside of your intake tube to see what I mean. Shove your hand up it if you don't have a flash light, you'll feel the grit your feeding your motor. And gas mileage, - keep checking it lol.

I didn't call you an idiot.

That's some guilty conscience.

Right, good day to you.

02_Black_On_White Afe make filters that will replace the K&N with a dry Element Pro Gaurd Filter. You just need the K&N filter number or the outlet diameter of your intake tube.

Just for that, -

This is sort of what the K&N system would look like with the integrated factory CAI w/dry element inside. Easy to do, for those interested.

___________

Or, like Carcrazygts2 suggested, - use your K&N box , just get the measurement. Different box here, but you get the idea, -

A pic of the nano fiber dry element I was referring to. This one fits the factory box only, -
