Default What would you do ' 08 or wait for '09?

I am looking at a 08 FX4 but then started thinking about waiting for the 09s.
Here's the deal they are offering for a fully loaded 08 FX4 with luxury pkg.

MSRP 40985
empl price 35678
rebate 2000
ford credit 1000
customer loyality 2000

selling price 30678 + tax and lic

So, Is this a fair price for an 08 in this market?

Or, do I wait and pay thousands more for an 09?

What would you do?

Pete

Personally I'd get the 08, that seems like a pretty good deal to me. I don't care for the front ends of the 09 so that's a pretty big non selling point for me.

well on a personal note i agree with the others that the 08 looks better but i would offer the dealer 28 on that truck. reason why is they cant throw you in jail, and they can only say yes or no.... or get them to add on something that you would want in lieu of a cheaper price... but either way I think you will be happy.

also a dealer has what they call "backend" money that they can get into if they want the truck to go bad enough. Usually 3K is the amount for back end money...plus they get money off of financing the truck...

the dealer only makes $300 from an employee deal, they will say no to $28k...don't listen to anyone with crazy in front of their name. thats a sweet deal, go for it. The 2009 is ugly and the emmissions equip and fuel economy are junk...the 08 is the route to go

hmmm didnt see the employee discount. but i still have seen vehicles go for less in this situation. If a dealer is a high volume dealer then they do get more incentives....

and as far as your comments goes... I am just trying to help out.. and it does not hurt anything to ask for 28K .. so what if they say no... if he is willing to give 30 for it, which i think is a fair price but what the heck..

I was a finance director for Ford and a finance manager for Dodge....its actually a percentage of invoice that the dealers make, some cars its only $100 or so, others its $1200 or so....the price he was quoted was a good price no need to argue because the dealer can just say that they don't want the employee deal at all or they can tell him he has to special order it only and by the time it arrives the incentives are way different.

I do understand what you are saying but to me buying a vehicle is like playing a game.. and it can be fun.. i have had the opportunity to sell and also be a buyer. and i guess what I ment was just ask... i mean what is better than having your cake and icing and eating it too... no way did i mean he had a bad deal lined up..
I am envious though cause i wished i had an fx2 or sts... but when i was looking the rebates werent there yet or as much as the crew cab xl.
my crew cab listed for 29K and i got it for 22K... took 3 hours to do it but it was fun and they said no on some things and they said yes on somethings..

Just dont take anything I said as a negative...
