I say go for it. get your parents to co sign on a loan. 6 months after i graduated high school i went and financed my 08 xlt with 77k mi for $18k....since i had no credit my intrest rate is 7.9% which sucks BUT it helped me build up my credit. only thing i would do different is refi the loan. here i am 2 years later still with 7.9% however my credit has grown enough for a credit card and a motorcycle loan and still have good credit. anyway....i say go for the truck once you find one. good luck!

I think 15MPG is a little optimistic on that truck. I would love to see a 15MPG average on my 07 with 33 Nitto Trails. I see 12-13 avg MPG's in your future.

You need to budget to pay for your insurance and gas. It sounds like you are a bit more concerned with MPG and $ than you should be. I'm not telling you not to buy it but I would take your payment x2 and that will probably be the MINIMUM cost per month to own the truck. I got a vehicle right as I graduated and I wish I would have put that $ into my pocket and driven my paid for Jeep Cherokee. As stated you will be lucky to get 15 MPG. I have a 2wd supercab with the 4.6 and rarely see 15 MPG, but I drive mainly city. If you are on a ranch or use 4x4 much Id expect low teens at best esp with the bigger tires.

I average about 12.5 and I drive about 75% city and 25% highway. With local gas prices I spend about $60-80/week on gas, so about $240-$320/mo in gas and I don't even drive that much. If I was you I'd have other things I'd rather spend my money on at that age, but it's totally up to you.

No one is going to finance you without your parents as co-signers. Even then that's a stretch. Two, save your money for college.

I have 33s and a level i get 12 street 15 freeway... diving like an old lady most the time. At 18 i would look for something cheaper unless you plan on keeping it ALONG time. I'm 31 and just got my first f150 last year for 8k but it's a 2wd and more miles but I'm keeping this bish till the wheels fall of then I'll put new ones on I love my truck.

I'm 6'3" and 400lbs. The biggest thing I drove until just recently was my Scion XD, and it literally bruises my knees. Wait till you get older to start spending money on cars man. Just my $0.02.
