i also use the plastic piece surrounding the cigarette lighter to mount my switches it comes out looking very nice

yeah that extra plastic space is real handy I but a tweeter on each side of my cigarette lighter there

Do you have an XL? I have a big ashtray that I use for pens, change, chapstick etc.

That's exactly what I did. It doesn't have glue on it. It just grips to the plastic automatically. I just trimmed it and stuck it there. I use it to store my remote. That thing doesn't move at all.

If you have the center column shifter, you will not have this spot. Only those trucks with the steering column shifter. Like your interior wfin2004, that leather is one item I miss from my last F150.

I have an '06 XLT with this spot. To me it's useless and don't bother using it. I do have one of those rubber/gel stickey mats at home I may try, but I'm not too worried about it either way.
