Default Over/Under Drives

I know they cost more but had you considered an over/under drive unit? They can act as a gear splitter and ultimately act as an overdrive for your truck. I've read some good stuff on Gear Vendor units, supposed to work well and able to take the heat of a hot engine/tranny combo on a 2wd. Don't know if they make one for a 4wd but I'm betting there's a good chance they do.

If I had only done it the first time, with the gears, diff, and new bearings, it would've only been $1050, and $450 of that was the Tru Trac.
A fellow member on this site that live in the Denver/Boulder area (which is where I live), recently had this done and that's what it cost him. Of course he may have paid a little more in labor, but labor rates vary depending on shops and area. This is why I stated this would most likely be the high price point.

Thanks Nagata, I was getting mixed mpg of about 18.5 with the stock Hankooks. I put a bigger tire on my truck 255/70 but still kept the same stock rims. However, I have a hard time maintaining speed espesially when it is windy outside. I will always drop about 10 miles per hour, when tring to climb hills, and that is not even pulling a Trailer. That is why I was thinking about 3.73. My fuel mileage went down to an avg of about 16.0 when I put the larger tires on. and I would not expect it to get worse by going to a 3.73.

Thanks again.

Depending on savage/part rates in your area. There is another route to get 4.10's in your F150. Find the axles out of a heavy duty weight package F150, one with the 7-lug package. The front housing will just bolt in and the rear axles with a little imagination, welder and drill can be re-drilled to the 6 on 135mm pattern. No set-up and no re-gears. And everything bolts in. I know your locker choices increase from the 9.75 with the 10.25 rearend, though the 8.8 that you probably have has a greater sellection of lockers. Or just swap the front housing and rear-gear the rear axle.
