On My other ford! It only had the 4 pin connector. I needed the round connector. Ford sells the harness w/plug.
I looked under my truck and I followed the wires from the plug to the frame area. (In the left rear area) It was plugged into the main harness that had all the wires.
I purchased the new plug/harness which gave both setups in one, as on the factory towing packages.
I unplugged the old harness and unbolted the plug. The piece came off as a whole. I then plugged in the new dual plug assy. into the harness and installed the plug by my hitch.
Then I had picked up the new relay for the hot wire (charge) to work. The Ford parts guy also gave me a diagram to show where the relays went.
I wanted the brake controller also.
That was another relay and a small 4 or 5 wire harness (factory) from Ford.
All this was easy to install 30 min total time.
The biggest expense was the trailer brake controller from the trailer Supply place
