I just picked up a set of stock 17" wheels from an STX and threw them on my dad's '06 XL 2WD. The 265/70-17 BF Goodrich Wranglers on them with raised white letters look pretty good on his white "work truck" and the package was affordable at $400 for the set.
Looking ahead to getting good summer tires for them, would it be best to stick with the 265's vs. the 235's that the truck came with? I don't want to go big & wide, but also don't want anything undersize on those wheels. Are those 265 Wranglers a stock size for an STX?

This was the question I was trying to answer with my last post:
Now, in reguards to this question:
The 235/70R17s the truck came with should work with the STX rim width, recommended rim width is 6-8" on those tires.

i have a 07 4x2 with the 17" wheels, without going through every page in this thread can someone tell me if i will be able to run 35x12.5 on my stock wheels and how much rubbing there will be with various 6" susp lifts, if need be i will be doing the leveling kit aswell.

i looked through a few pages, read every post, and figured it would be easier for someone to help me with the what they know of the top of their head or what they have had experience with and explaining it to me in a way i can understand rather than reading the posts and knowing what will and wont work for a 4wd truck with a leveling kit yet im still stuck with my question, i went through 6 pages and nothing about a 6" suspension lift on a 2wd truck and 35" tires.
i would appreciate it if you can help me with my questions, if not, why bother quote me i a post? just seems unnecessary.

Here's the Fabtech Lift
Here's the Pro Comp Lift
Give them a call and they should be able to help you confirm the stock backspacing will clear.
If your concerned about cost, you may want to see what you can do with a combination of a leveling kit and a body lift.
HERE'S another thread with some guys who may be able to help.

A bodylift does less to raise the center of gravity than a suspension lift, because your frame and drivetrain remain at the same level. So a 6+3 would be less topheavy than a 9" suspension alone. Body lifts are a PITA to install though.
