Default Rear Axle Seal Leak

Has anyone else with the 04-08 f150 had a leak in the rear axle seal? I got my rear brakes swapped to ceramic brakes and got rid of the cheap OEM brakes. My brake guy noticed the rear axle seal is leaking and said he has an 04 that did the same thing. He said he thinks its under warranty and I only have 41K miles it.

Anyone have any experience with this?

yes my 04 fx4 had a leaking rear seal on the driver side then on the passenger side about a month later...both around the 100,000 mile mark. when you change them i would do both at the same time so you wont have to buy the oil twice,{because it isn't cheap}there is a thread in this forum somewhere that has great info and pics and the whole job is really easy so....

It's not an unusual problem with these. I've put 2 passenger side seals and one driver's side seal in mine.

Yup...same here...replaced driver side this past winter...had a little residue around the axle and inside the drum where the emergency brake pad is. Part cost 5 bucks maybe but the oil for rearend isn't cheap. You can save the fluid if you take time to run it through a paper filter when you drain it. Took me an hour to remove axle and replace seal and seal up rearend again.

I noticed mine was leaking on the passenger side. Also I notice a high pitched squeak at low speed sometimes. Would the seal leaking be the cause of this leak or is it most likely from the oil in the e-brake assy or the bearing is also bad? My understanding is if the bearing is bad it will wine or howl at all speeds all the time. I plan to replace the seal this weekend.
