Default Power windows won't roll down

2006 F150 Lariat Supercrew 4x4
The power windows will not roll down unless the door is open. The sunroof and power sliding back glass work fine and everything else seems to be ok. Does anyone know what could be wrong.

My buddy has a 2006 Lariat and he can only roll down the windows using the driver side switches. The other three are dead switches. I know it's not exactly the same as your problem but just weird that both are having similar problems with windows.

There's a How-To in that section of the site that explains how to clean the window switch contacts. Not sure if that's a fix for your issue, but it's worth a shot since it's free and easy...

It doesn't seem to be the switch contacts. Another thing I just noticed last night, all the glow lights (embedded in the switches) turn off when any switch is depressed. I'm not sure if it could be a faulty relay or something?

It turned out to be a bad wire. When I pulled back the protective "sock" from between the door and the body side, I found a wire that had broken due to what I assume was the opening and closing of the door causing the wire to fatigue and eventually break. I spliced the wire back together and all is good!

That Happened to my 06 XLT I bought two switches before i actually checked the wiring. Ended up just being a split wire in the driver door. Good thing I was able to take the switches back.
