I would definitely recommend straight piping your 5.4 as well. I like my trucks to be loud as well and I run true duals with no mufflers on mine. Has a very nice, deep tone. And even with no muffler the 5.4 is not all that loud. I think you will like it! Plus if you don't you haven't lost anything and can always add a muffler later

I have been looking at borla a friend of mine has them on a 4.6 and man it sounds good. I have to pick a few mufflers and then try and find some good quality sound clips to see which I like. I want it to sound mean but in a good way without popping and cackling down the road lol. Gonna have to wait till I figure out the engine noise though.

My other truck is straight piped and I like it and all but that's a beater I don't drive everyday. If a muffler isn't enough for me i may end up doing the same thing to this one. I just wanna keep this truck super clean and nice.

I understand that for sure. I don't know what it is about the 5.4 but it is much quieter than any of the other trucks I've straight piped. It doesn't pop and crack much. It really has a very clean deep sound to it. I like it although I do wish it were a bit louder sometimes, haha.

Drive it down the highway for 3+ hours with straight pipes, and you'll wish you never did it.

Yeah, or have wait a few years when you have little kids and some douche with straight pipes lives down the street and wakes them up at 11 or 12 at night all the time.......you know, because it makes you cool to have a loud as **** truck.

If you are single and want to stay that way you should definitely straight pipe your truck.

Well I had my mechanic take a listen to the truck since he works mostly on fords and he said the truck sounds healthy and I'm just hearing noisy injectors. He just recommended I change to synthetic and change it every 3000 with an mc filter. He said these motors are noisy and mine sounds normal.

Don't worry guys I won't be straight piping this truck lmao. My other one is straight piped and that's good enough. My wife actually thinks my 97 sounds beefy as do I so I guess it's all an opinion lol.

I'd run 5W-30 in it to bump the oil pressure up to help keep it from ticking and all that fun stuff. Just my opinion though.

I put 5W30 in my 07 Expedition 5.4 and it made it louder and mpg dropped about 1. Switched back to 5W20 and quieted right down. 129K on it right now.
