Thanks for the info Bucko, that is very helpful, I appreciate it.

Ok, so, looks like an efan would help me out, freon is indeed fine, and she blows nice and cold on highway...

So, I am thinking a "pusher", mounted to front of condenser... now, that in mind, will I "have" to uninstall the existing fan and clutch? Or can I leave them as they are, and simply "add" the efan to front of AC condenser? Will that hurt anything?

Thanks!

Ron

Does anyone see any problem with my "adding" an efan/pusher in front of the AC condenser and still leaving the mechanical fan connected and running?

Again, my goal is to increase the AC performance during stop and go driving here in AZ.

I know most of ya'l remove the mechanical fan, I'd like to keep mine installed and add the efan to front condenser... can't hurt? Will help with AC?

Thanks folks.

Ron

I think I will try this this weekend. Hooking up a pusher fan.

Now, I looked under the hood... seems I will have to pick which side of the condenser to put the fan on... right or left... does it make a difference?

Ideally center, but, have a support bar (or whatever) running up the center of the condenser... maybe I should install 2? One right and one left?

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Ron F.

P.S. Also, which do you think would be better... heater core bypass valve mod or pusher fan over the condenser?

I'm not a big fan of "pushers". How do you plan to mount them? Please don't tell me you plan to use those plastic things that push through the fins of the condensor/radiator....big mistake, as they will vibrate, break away the fins from the cores, loosing valuable cooling efficiency; the fins must be in contact in order for the heat to disipate.

Plus, in order for fans to work at their peak, they need a shroud. Slapping two fans in front is not the best and most efficient way.

Howdy... well, for the fan mounts... I plan on using alum brackets to mount.

The two 12 inch fans, draw 25 amps (Hayden) each.

Now, have purchased the following

* 2 12 inch fans
* 2 30 Amp in Line fuses
* 2 30 Amp Toggle switches
* Plenty of 10 gauge wire

My intent would be to hook these up so that they only get power after ignition. that way there, if I forget to turn off... won't drain the battery.

can anyone lay out a step by step to wire this... where to grab power, where to get into the cab from under the hood?

I mean, I can't just run the positive from the fan to the battery post, then splice in one of the 30 amp switches, as that would mean it would run when truck is not running.

you can tell, I am by no means an electrical guru, but would like to do this on my own...

Not sure how relays work or if needed? And how to hook up...

Am I making this more complicated that need be? I want a simple set up... and don't even mind if both fans are run off of one switch.

So, would like power to fan only when:
- Switch is on
- Truck is on

either of those is false, no power.

Have done plenty of searches and found tons of info, but nothing specific to this.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Ron

P.S. And of course when this is done, will post findings.
