Loud knocking sound in my 2005 4.6l
So I was driving down the highway and was in the high rpms when all of a sudden I hear this ticking sound. So I get off and pull over and see whats wrong. At first I thought it was an alternator but upon showing my dad he believed it to be my lifters. So, I bite the bullet and take it into a shop to get this obnoxious sound fixed. So the mechanic replaces all of my lifters, valve covers, gaskets, changed the tensioner guide and chain, and then pulled the serpentine belt. But, the noise didn't stop. And everything oils like it should and all the pressure is notmal. Infact it may have even gotten louder. I can hear it in the engine compartment, I can hear it inthe exhaust with metallic clangs, and I can hear it in the cab while driving. Also, as I hit the throttle, the ticking sound speeds up in sync with the amount of throttle. Can anybody think of what this might be? Because I'm trying to sell my pickup, but it damn near sounds like my engine is about to go out. I would greatly appreciate your input, thanks!

X2 on exhaust manifold or the gasket, my engine would sound really loud and with a tick before I changed them. Got my buddy to replace the passenger side and it instantly fixed my problem. Go to the shop and tell them to check your exhaust manifold and gaskets.
