I looked through some magazines and didn't see a listing for any odd road tires 315/70/17. They have off road tires that size though

I'm running 315/75/16's, same size as yours but 16 inch rim. I've had BFG mud terrain KM's, pro comp X terrains, and currently pro comp Xtreme AT's. I have been happy with all, the BFG's were the best all around, i would have bought them again but they quit making the KM's and i couldn't find any in my size, and didn't want to pay the $$$ for the new KM 2's. The X terrains were better off road performance and still pretty quiet for such an aggresive tire, and my new Xtreme AT's are very road friendly. I don't wheel the truck anymore, but the AT's seem to do well in sand and a few other mild situations i've had them in.

Check out 4wheelparts.com, they always have some kind of incentives or sales going on for tires and wheels, especially pro comp.

I respectfully disagree, sir. Pro Comp are made by Cooper, and my experience with Cooper tires is pretty horrible. On the other hand, I bought a set of BFG A/Ts for my old Ranger, put them on at 80k and sold the truck with 175k and there was still meat on them. They were outstanding in snow, excellent off road, and had very nice road manners to boot.

Tirerack does seem to have good prices on them too.
