Yeah, don't mess with those! That's part of the side airbags system!

Wish I could help you more...

One last suggestion... Go to this thread and mention the issue you're having:

https://www.f150forum.com/f38/power-...window-271510/

The reason is that you have a 2014 and this thread is for 2004-2008. The link above will take you to a similar thread for 2009 to current, where others that may have your same year & model may be able to help you.

Here are some pics i finished at 1 am last night so some are a little dark thanks for the write up's above to help me get through this !
Was wondering if you ever got the defroster hooked up? If you didn't would you be interested in selling the wires and stock connector for the defroster? I have a slider i will be installing. But i have only 2 wires coming from the passenger corner of the window. I would also need the two female connectors that plug to the corner male connectors. If interested let me know.

Thank you and the install looks good.

Default Switch

When it came today, I popped down the overhead center console and removed the part in the third pic.

The fourth pic is of the box w/part number of the switch.

And the last pic is the switch installed...and it works perfectly! I just need to find the appropriate trim piece that goes around the switch now. All the wiring was there. From what I was reading in the owners manual, the defroster switch for the mirrors is also the switch for the rear window. Now that it's milder weather, I'm going to have to wait to see if that is true later this year.

Other side notes about this mod;

That butyl weatherstripping is a MESS to work with. You have to get all the old stuff off the truck before attempting to put on the new. It took HOURS to clean it off the truck & off the replacement power slider (I bought it from a salvage yard, and they obviously didn't clean it off).

Once cleaned off, I bought at NAPA a 15' roll of new butyl for the install, and I used the 3/8" size. After I got it installed, we had rain for a couple of days--sometimes downpours--with no leaks.

Hopefully this helps someone else considering this "mod". Let me know if you have any questions.

When you removed your overhead console you switch harness, did you have to find it or was it there? I have the complete harness behind the seat, but when I pulled the console down, on the map lights harness was there. I really want to install this window, but I don't want to install the switch harness that came with it, I rather it be stock. Any help would be appreciated.

It was there, but I did have to dig around a little bit in the headliner.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the detailed breakdown for this mod. I'm getting ready to do the same but had one questions regarding the overhead console switch. When i Google the part number from your box picture, everything that returns is showing for a 09-14.

I'm wondering if you had a link or guidance on ordering the correct switch for the console?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what year your truck is, and regardless, I don't think I can help you. I noticed that this thread involved 04-08 truck owners, and 09-14 truck owners like me all doing this same swap/mod.

My recommendation is to check with other owners on this thread that have the same model year as you and succeeded in finding the right switch.

Wish I could help more though...

Hey Greg,

Thanks for the response. I've got a 2008 XL SuperCrew. So now i'm curious if my switch is in the overhead map light area like yours, or down along the driver side under sill panel and up by the headlight switch?

If anyone knows, could you please let me know? I've got some research to do as the window will be here tomorrow and i've only got a couple days to get it installed before shipping off to Afganistan ...again.

I have a 14 XLT with everything but the slider. I got excited and bought the slider, and I had no power for mine up there. I had to run the switch that came with it.

So I installed the power sliding rear window. I hooked it up behind the seats, bought the switch for the over head console. Pulled down the headliner since the wiring wasnt with the overhead light wire. No wiring for the sliding rear window. Anybody find a wiring harness part number for the overhead console switch? I found some extra plugs abouve the rear window, thinking that might connect the overhead switch.

SanDiegoSurfer, I ordered my overhead switch from Amazon. SW6641 Wiper Switch Assembly. It says Wiper switch assembly, dont worry about that part, sorry if its too late and your already overseas. I might be looking to get rid of it if I cant find out how to connect it. Box is lost, got the switch only.
