Default Identify transmission part

Helping a buddy service his trans due to the message on the dash and the shifting being jacked up. He purchased the solenoid kit and we dropped the pan we found this in the bottom. We looked all around and couldn't find any place it could have gone. Can anybody help identify it? Thanks!!

Default Identify transmission part

Apparently this trans has never been serviced before. It's a plug from the factory that goes in the trash after the pan has been dropped for the first time.

I'm lost, has the transmission ever been serviced before? (thinking someone not wanting to have leftover parts) :-)

Default what is it

screaming eagle nailed it right on!!!!! But to add more info...they ship a truckload of tranny's from the MFG. plant....tranny's are all sealed for dust etc.......That is what they stick in the transmission dip stick tube hole...
when they install the dip stick in your vehicle...that tube pushes that plastic piece into the tranny pan.......which every tranny shop knows to discard on first sevice.....
It is however a very good conversation starter & creates a point to start worrying...been there done that!!
