He asked for any Idea's...that's what poped into my mind at the time I was looking at a jacked up pistion...was not tring to be insultive or disrespectful...sorry if I came accross that way.

My best guess would be a severe lean condition with a very possible over advancement of timing..(considering you were tuned) If the injector was dumping raw fuel it would have likely had more of a cooling affect causing a crack and not a meltdown. The lean issue could have definitely been caused by the single injector.

What octane fuel were you running? Is it possible you may have pumped the wrong octane fuel? Maybe a friend filled it up with wrong octane for the tune..?
How did the valves look on cylinder 5?

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but at least your gonna have a fresh new motor!

I have to agree on this. I completely forgot about a mechanic buddy telling me how fuel is used to cool the incoming charge. Too much fuel would of caused a rapid cool down cracking the piston head. Plz correct me if I'm wrong.

93 octane that's what was in it
