"humming" noise while drive in 2 wheel drive but not 4 wheel drive?

I mentioned it a few posts back I think but ill mention it again. I cranked the steering wheel all the way to the left (and all the way to the right when accessing the opposite side) and ducked my head down behind the wheel and tire on each side and pulled the vacuum line off that goes to the IWE's. There is 2 vacuum ports on each IWE that the vacuum hose connects too. one is a vent and the other is the vacuum. On the IWE itself I stuck the spade shaped nozzle of the small can of lock deicer into each of the 2 ports on each IWE and spray it for about 1 maybe 2 seconds. not enough to fill the system full of fluid but enough to coat the inside of the IWE and let it work its magic. I then immediately reinstalled the vacuum line on each IWE.
I then started the truck up and cycled my 4 wheel drive selector to 4 wheel drive and back to 2 wheel drive a few times ( not fast.....but every 20 seconds or so to insure that it had time to engage the 4x4 and disengage also) . I figured by doing this that what little deicer i sprayed into the IWE's would get circulated through out the system and vacuum lines and such due to the draw of the vacuum pulling it through the system.
sorry for the long explanation...just wanted to try and describe what exactly I did as best as I could so everyone else knows what to do.
And again...so far I haven't had an issue with it since!
picture below of a can of lock deicer...notice the spade shaped tip rather than your typical cylindrical "straw" shaped tip. This worked excellent for the job because the tip rested on the vacuum port casing and made for easy spraying of the deicer into the ports.

figures......been 40-50 degrees the last few days here in michigan and the snow has been steadily melting. woke up this morning to a blizzard and 3 inches of snow and they are still calling for a total of 10" by the end of the day.
luckily my 4x4 is working good haha.

I think you said you replaced one actuator already? Do the other one. My truck was at the dealership for a month with them trying to fix this same issue. Noise was coming from the drivers side, but it turned out to be the passenger side actuator.

no, both IWE's are factory. I only replaced the IWE solenoid.
Like I mentioned the lock deicer seems to have did the trick. even in these negative temps with all this snow we have had it hasn't acted up since.

To the dirt mud and trees
ok, so let me start by saying that I recently replaced my IWE solenoid . ( my 4x4 sometimes would not engage in really cold weather ....a couple times of which it ATTEMPTED to engage and you could hear the cv splines grind against the IWE on the drivers side)...all the lines were blew out and hubs also and new solenoid installed and 4x4 has worked just fine since. Have not noticed any out of the norm noises or anything. (not even sure if the issue I am about to mention is related but figured I would mention it anyhow). Anyways, I parked the truck for about 4 days. Today I got in the truck and I noticed that in 2 wheel drive at around 35 mph I start to hear a "hum" almost like the sound you would hear with an aggressive tire... This "humming" noise increases the faster I drive (it sounds like its at the front of the truck and MAYBE more so on the drivers side). There does not seem to be any vibrations in the steering wheel or lack in quality of steering, the sound does not appear to change on turns or when I shimmy the wheel back and forth driving down the road........just this noise). NOW.....if I put it in 4x4....the humming noise goes away. everything sounds as normal. So I can guarantee it is not a tire noise, I highly doubt its wheel bearing noise. I am stumped on what the noise might be since everything was fine and then I parked the truck for a few days and all of a sudden this noise came about. Not like I was out hot ******* the truck or jumping ditches and exploded something in my diff or t-case or something. Anyone had a similar issue with these trucks and/or know what the issue might me?

Like I mentioned in the last post I made back this last winter. my issue ended up being moisture in my IWE ends. I sprayed a little lock deicer in each of them and the problem hasnt came back since.
But thanks for chiming in....just another idea for someone else who may have a similar issue that see's this thread in the future!

Does anyone know if any of the parts mentioned here, IWE's, solenoids, vacuum lines, etc...are covered under the extended power-train warranty? I have a 2011 Screw that is displaying these symptoms, and thought if I can get some free work, and maybe some free parts it's not a bad thing
Otherwise I will be trying the lock deicer first...
