IMHO - Try replacing the coils.

I got replacement boots and greased them when I installed the new plugs. Today I realized the truck may be downshifting when this happens. It seems to be happening more frequently. If it is a miss will it trip the check engine light eventually? If not would there be readable codes without a light?

Hang on here. I had the exact same issue, and just got a little tube of anti shudder or something like that from the auto parts store. I added it to the trans fluid, and the shudder went away. From what I have read the problem has to do with your torque converter.

Quick tip, don't add the full tube of anti shudder, add about half, drive it and see if it still shudders, if you need a little more, add some more. I added the whole tube when I did mine, and now I feel like it shifts slightly slower/looser now.
