Flowmaster 40 series muffler too loud
Hey guys, I put a flowmaster 40 series on my truck late last fall.
It is single in, dual out, on a 2006 FX4 crew with a 5.4L.
It is pretty loud, and I was wondering if anyone had a 50 series on thier 5.4L, and what it sounds like. I am thinking of changing it because I had a 50 series on my chev, and it sounded good, but I was going for a little louder, and got a lot louder!
I am not a teenager, so I would like to quiet it down a touch.
Anyone?

I've got a 50 series on mine. It's got a good rumble, but it's not too loud just driving around town. If I romp on it, it's loud. On the highway, you can tell it's there, but it's not annoying.

I just put a Flowmaster 50 series muffler on yesterday.
Manufacturer Part Number: 52558
04 F150 5.4L
I noticed the power increase more then the sound over the stock muffler. There is a slight increase in deep tone and overall grumble. (Inside and out) Its louder then stock, but not so much the neighbors would notice I guess would be the best way to describe it. It sounds more like how a truck is suppose to sound now, I like it. Any louder and I wouldnt like it for a daily driver.

It's a Ford F-150!
I've got the super 44 on my 5.4L. I had friends with the 40 on their trucks and it was a little loud for me. I've never heard the 50 but the 44 has a very nice sound to it IMO.

I have a 4.6 with Flowmaster 50 SUV Si/So and i'm planning to change cause there is simply no sound...
Itaught i would a more sound than that. A little rumble when the motor is cold and at around 60 mph but that's it!! Pretty desapointed... but that's just my experience.

My glasspack is getting too quiet for me too. It still sounds good, but doesn't have the dB I would like. If I get to redo it this summer I think I'll go true 3" duals from the Y-pipe back and a thru-flow muffler.
