i think its more complicated than distance. things like station signal strength(big stations pump out more juice than a college station), competing stations... having 93.3 50 miles to the east and 93.5 20 miles to the west... topography, wood cover, etc etc.. but its 55 miles by road..

the point is... everything else gets this station better. all of my previous cars... my friends cars.. my girlfriends car... my amfm clock radio next to my bed, my ryobi work radio... etc etc...

for all i know, the truck's antenna might actually be TOO good, that it picks up stuff that it shouldnt, that interferes with it. idk. its just unfortunate either way.

Yes, topography is key. I have no issues in any vehicle getting stations a good distance away. My truck is no exception.

I agree that the stock antenna is decent. However, I replaced my whip with a 50 cal bullet antenna, and believe it or not, I get better deception. Maybe more wraps inside the antenna, but I'll get reception 100 miles away from one of our HD stations...

Was in central MN, specifically 55355. Stations from St Cloud would be a struggle to come in which was about 30-45min away. Stations from the metro did not come in, period.

Lived in this area all my life until recently. Any other car/truck could pull these stations in, but not the truck. My wife even commented at how terrible it is. I used to listen to metro stations in the car. The fusion has no issues.

Now have an aftermarket screen deck in there, no change so rock a 32gb thumb drive.

I don't have a lot of stations to choose from. 5 to be exact but they come in well. One thing to check with these antenna is 1. check the connection on the back of the radio, 2. if you have an aftermarket radio check the adapter, and 3. there is a connection behind the glovebox. Squeeze the sides of the glovebox together slightly and it will flip out and all the way down. Check all those connections to make sure they are not lose fitting.
