When cold mine idles 600-650. When warm it idles 500-575 usually 500-550. When it idles at 550 or 575 it's rough and shakes the truck a little. It's been like that ever since I bought it and even after I replaced timing tensioners, guides, chain, VCT solenoids, cam sensors, and every fuel and ignition part/sensor possible lol. When I had an Edge Evo I had the idle at 750 or 800 and that's the smoothest it's ever idled!

I have been trying to figure out this slight rough idle under the condition above, and I have just about come to the conclusion that 625 rpm's is just too low. All I can figure is the PCM is telling the engine to idle at 625. When I manipulate it to 750, all is smooth. Do any of you have the same situation? Does anyone else agree that my rpm's are too low. I have done everything I can think of such as change out plugs and COP's, cleaned MAF sensor, cleaned throttle body, new clean air filter, etc. The only thing I haven't checked is for a vacuum leak, but I don't think that is the problem. Is there any way short of buying a programmer that I can adjust the rpm's up enough to get rid of this slightly rough idle when stopped and in gear? Is there a specific rpm the engine should be under this condition?
Did you change our your PCV?

my 08 idles @ 590-620 via the RPM display on my Edge tuner. this is stopped at a light at operating temp. smooth idle. I did bump my idle up 50 rpms.

Where do I find the specific weatherstripping for the air filter holder, or does it matter what kind of foam I use?

Also, my truck idles at about 625-650, I think. A tiny bit rough, but drives perfectly fine (sometimes, it idles buttery smooth). I wonder if it's possible to increase idle without a tune?

You can't adjust without some sort of tune.

Default 2004 Ford f-150 5.4L triton

[QUOTE=xrider;3768734]Thanks, that's the kind of info I am looking for.

Bought my 2004 f-150 used and it has idled around 750 rpm in gear the entire time I’ve had it, recently though it has been having problems as well. Idling around 500 and was even stalling occasionally. I’ve changed the MAF sensor and it doesn’t stall but still idles lower than normal, if you do find a good solution I’d love to know.
